Festival HighlightsShort Film Award WinnersThe Canwest Best Manitoba Short Film was presented by, Lynne Monroe the Vice President of Community and Public Releations, on Saturday July 26. The Canwest Best Manitoba Short Film is awarded to the best Manitoban director whose film exhibits innovation and vision. The jury examined the film’s cinematography, screenplay and character development, aspects of Genre and overall production. Gimli Film Festival Closes with Sell Out CrowdsAfter five days of films, with crowds waiting in line for the theatres, the Gimli Film Festival (GFF) drew to a close on Tuesday July 29 with the film All Together Now on the beach screen. The major industry events drew a sold-out audience to hear panelists Paul Gross, Liz Jarvis, Sarah Timmins and Paul Barkin discuss their experiences in getting their films to distributors – a lively forum moderated by Phyllis Laing. A candid and humorous interview followed with Robert Enright delving into the mind of Guy Maddin, who expressed how thrilled he was to have his latest film, My Winnipeg, screened in the historic Gimli Theatre. |
